Our Board of Directors

Mary Jane Driscoll (President and Director of Tutor Advisory). Mary Jane has been a literacy volunteer since 1989. She has served as the Director of Tutor Training, Director of Tutor Advisory and workshop leader since 1996. She has served as President since 2012.

Ben Hunter (Vice President, interim Treasurer) Ben has been a tutor since November 2011. He is a Best Plus Tester and a Tutor Advisor. Ben joined the board in 2016. He has helped develop our Member and Tutor tracking system and our website. He has been Vice President since 2020.

Roseanne Macari (Director of Marketing and Fundraising) Roseanne joined LVT as a tutor in 2020 and served as Secretary from 2022 to 2024. Roseanne has contributed her skills as a graphic artist to our website, newsletter and correspondence.

Nancy Kaufman Panagacos (Director Learner-Tutor Matching) Nancy has been a literacy volunteer since 2013. She was a tutor for two years and has served on the LVT Board as Director of Tutor-Learner Matching since 2015.

Susan Brennan (Director of Tutoring Materials) Susan joined Literacy Volunteers as a tutor in 2013. She has helped with fundraising effort to update furniture and tutoring materials in the tutoring center. She has served as Director of Tutoring Materials since 2022.

Niamh Fitzgerald (Director of Tutor Training) Niamh joined LVT as a tutor in 2005 and served as a director at large from 2016 to 2022. Since 2017, she was responsible for orienting online trained tutors. She accepted a re-appointment to the board in 2024 as the Director of Tutor Training.

 

Joan Meade (Director). Joan has been a literacy volunteer since 2008 and a Tutor Advisor since 2009. Joan has served as a Director and editor of the LVT Newsletter since 2016.

Shirley Eng (Director, Interim Secretary) Shirley joined Literacy Volunteers as a tutor in 2019. She accepted appointment to the board of directors in July of 2022. Shirley has served on the website committee, nominating committee and has helped with tutoring room enhancements.

Appointed position:
Barbara Cohen (Library Liaison). Barbara is the bilingual Children’s Librarian at the Warner Library who has served the community for 21 years providing bilingual children’s services, outreach programs and developing the Spanish language collections. Since 2016, she has served as the Warner Library representative to the LVT Board.
